The Faithfulness of God

Joshua 1:1-9
God keeps all of His promises.  Because of His unlimited power and capability, He could never commit Himself to do something of which He would eventually prove incapable.  He never has to revise His word or renege on a promise.  Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
God’s faithfulness is demonstrated repeatedly throughout the pages of Scriptures. Some examples include God’s promise to Abraham of a Son, God’s faithfulness in providing a substitute sacrifice for Isaac, God’s faithfulness in providing the promised land, and God faithfulness in providing a redeemer for all mankind. Genesis 3:15. And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
I.        The Comfort of  Knowing God’s Calling (V 5-6).
  1. God will be with you.
  2. God will not fail you.
  3. God will not forsake you.
II.       The Bases for Prosperity (V 7-8).
  1. Be strong and of good courage.
  2. Observe the law.
  3. Meditate on the Word of God.
III.      The Reaction to God’s Presence (V 9).
  1. Be not afraid.
  2. Neither loose courage.
  • God has proven Himself to be all-powerful, all wise, and ever faithful.
  • No one knows ahead of time the Father’s plan but we walk by faith and trust that His plan is best.
  • We can be certain that God knows best.
